Pritzker announced today the release of $37.3 million to launch facilities for five hubs of the Illinois Innovation Network (IIN), created to accelerate job creation and economic growth through groundbreaking education, research, and discovery. NOV 28: NORTHWESTERN TEAM AMONG 2 FINALISTS FOR $300 MILLION NASA MISSION

One of just two finalists, STAR-x, a space mission proposed to the agency's Explorer program that includes three Northwestern University astrophysicists, has been selected as one of two finalists to launch a research facility into space in 2028. As a finalist, STAR-X received $3 million to fund a nine-month-long detailed exploration of the proposed issue.

NOV 18: TWO CHICAGO UNIVERSITIES CO-RECIPIENTS OF $51 MILLION GRANT FOR HEALTH EQUITY

Loyola University and Illinois Institute of Technology are among the co-recipients of a $51 million grant from the National Institutes of Health that will work to improve health equity, launching a community-based research network of nonprofits and other organizations who want to address the health issues plaguing their members by working with physicians and researchers.

NOV 17: UIC WATER SURVEILLANCE PROJECT WINS CHICAGO INNOVATION AWARD

A University of Illinois Chicago Associate Professor, Rachel Poretsky, accepted a Chicago Innovation Award on behalf of a collaborative, multi-institution team effort to monitor the ebb and flow of COVID-19 in Chicago and Illinois by detecting the virus's presence in wastewater. Other collaborators include Northwestern University and Argonne National Laboratory.

OCT 18: LOYOLA ANNOUNCES SCOLARSHIP HONORING ALUMNA MAMIE TILL-MOBLEY

Loyola University Chicago has announced the establishment of a scholarship honoring Mamie Till-Mobley, the mother of Emmet Till and a 1971 graduate of the University's Graduate School of Education, continuing her legacy of service to the youth of Chicago and the cause of justice for Black children everywhere by supporting a Chicagoland high school graduate who has been recognized for their engagement with the Black community through leadership or community service.
